Nail through hand

Case contributed by A.Prof Frank Gaillard

Nail gun accident.

Patient Data

Age: Adult
Gender: Male

Xrays of the hand

Two views of the hand demonstrate a large nail passing just lateral to the third MCP joint, not clearly involving the bone. Another metallic fragment is seen just palmar to the second metacarpal.

Case Discussion

Work place nail gun accidents are relatively common and always make of 'ouch' x-rays.
