Metallic density foreign body at the middle of the left nasal cavity with surrounding granulation tissue. The left inferior nasal turbinate could not be differentiated from the granulation tissue mass. Mild bowing of the lateral and inferior walls of the left nasal cavity.
Mild mucosal thickening of the left maxillary sinus.
Deviated nasal septum towards the left side with a bone spur.
It is unusual to find a long-standing foreign body impaction at the nasal cavity. The deviated nasal septum towards the left side with bone spur was mostly responsible in the arrest of further posterior progression of the foreign body.
Chronic impaction was complicated by granulation tissue formation surrounding the lesion resulting in partial obstruction of the left nasal airway and mild lateral bowing of the left nasal cavity inferior and lateral walls. 3D volume rendered images revealed a metallic sew-on snap button.
