In the cartilaginous part of the nasal septum, a relatively well-defined hypodense collection is detected, which causes nasal septum erosion. The collection widens and obliterates the anterior parts of bilateral nasal cavities. No clear fat plane between the collection and adjacent nasal turbinates.

Case Discussion

The nasal septal abscess was drained by ENT specialist under local anesthesia.

Prompt diagnosis and treatment of nasal septal abscesses is important because nasal septal abscesses can lead to lethal complications, such as meningitis, brain abscess, and cavernous sinus thrombophlebitis.

Emergency incision and drainage of the abscess and broad-spectrum intravenous antibiotic treatment is advised.
