Umbilical lines inserted. Check position.

Patient Data

Age: Preterm neonate
Gender: Female
x-ray

ET tube, UAC and UVC in appropriate positions. However, in the upper mid-abdomen there is a large area of central hyperlucency consistent with free gas.

UVC and UAC lines are in appropriate positions. But, don't miss the wood for the trees! More important is the free gas in the upper abdomen!

Case Discussion

The films was performed to assess the position of the umbilical lines, but there is a large area of hyperlucency projected in the midline. Features here are of neonatal perforation.
