Pre-mature neonate with supra-umbilical swelling

Patient Data

Age: Neonate
Gender: Female

Separation of the recti muscles with an approximately 1.5 cm gap is seen above the umbilicus.

Normal relation of the recti muscles below the umbilicus

Case Discussion

Diastasis recti is a stretching of the linea alba with an abnormal widening of the gap between the two medial sides of the rectus abdominis muscle (increased inter-recti distance).
