Abdominal mass.
Patient Data
Multiple variable-sized low attenuating nodular masses are seen scattered through the parenchyma of both kidneys. Both kidneys are enlarged in size.
Many nodules are larger than 3cm in size.
Case Discussion
The imaging findings are more in favor of nephroblastomatosis rather than renal lymphoma because the nodular masses are more than 3cm ( as opposed to renal lymphoma in which the nodular masses are typically less than 3cm in size ) and there are no significant enlarged retroperitoneal lymph nodes. The second differential is renal lymphoma, however in terms of not only the size of the cysts, but also the baseline likelihood (renal lymphoma is not as typically seen in infants) the probability of renal lymphoma is less likely.
