Presentation
Middle aged patient with right ureteric colic with rigours.
Patient Data
BIlateral renal calculi, with a right hydronephrosis due to a proximal ureteric calculus.
Fatty liver.
Control film: large proximal ureteric calculus.
Nephrostogram: Hydronephrosis due to almost complete obstruction from the ureteric calculus.
8F nephrostomy tube in the renal pelvis.
Case Discussion
In this case a percutaenous nephrostomy tube was inserted for urosepsis secondary to obstruction from a ureteric stone.
The patient's clinical status improved significantly within 12 hours of nephrostomy tube insertion showing its value in the acute setting with infected stone disease.
