Presentation

A known case of neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2)

Patient Data

Age: 25-30 years
Gender: Male
mri

MRI shows multiple tumors including bilateral acoustic schwannomas, right optic nerve meningioma with tram track sign, right facial nerve schwannoma, meningioma arise from the ethmoidal cribriform plate and bilateral parietal meningioma with dural tail and adjacent calvarium hyperostosis more obvious on right side. Beside the above findings, ependymoma of the spinal cord is depicted.

Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) is a rare autosomal dominant neurocutaneous disorder manifesting as the development of multiple CNS tumors.  patients with this disease have:

  • intracranial schwannoma
  • intracranial and spinal meningioma
  • intraspinal-intramedullary ependymoma
