A sharply demarcated round cystic SOL is seen at midbrain extending to the left cerebral peduncle and subthalamic area, with contents compatible with CSF signal intensity. No obvious mass effect , edema or obstructive hydrocephalus seen.
Findings are in keeping with neuroglial cyst.
Neuroglial cysts of the CNS are maldevelopmental in nature. Neuroglial cysts are ependymal lined and probably arise from budding or displacement from the ventricular system. They are nowadays picked up as incidental findings, but patients can present with pressure symptoms. In such case surgical excision is considered. Stereotactic biopsies can be done for histopathological diagnosis .
