Right knee pain radiating to the calf with swelling for one week duration.
Patient Data
There is evidence of lytic bone lesion involving the posterior aspect of the upper shaft of the tibia, measuring more than three centimeters. This lesion is well demarcated with sclerotic margins and showing multiple septations. These findings are indicating benign non-ossifying fibroma.
Case Discussion
This is 10 year old girl, with right knee pain radiating to the calf with associated swelling for one week duration referred to her general practitioner. X-ray of the leg was requested which showed lytic lesion with septations and sclerotic margins, in the shaft of the right tibia measuring more than three centimeters indicating NOF which resembles the larger version of FCD. This lesion also shows cortical expansion on lateral view as it is arising posteriorly with no evidence of cortical break which indicates benign or slow-growing pathologies as seen in this case.
