Presentation
Testis mass. Negative serum markers
Patient Data
Left testis - Much of the testis is replaced a relatively circumscribed, solid to focally cystic, pale tan tumor. The lesion is macroscopically confined to the testis. There is a cuff of residual normal tan testicular parenchyma
Case Discussion
This is an example of a non-seminomatous germ cell tumor (NSGCT) and contained areas of embryonal carcinoma and immature teratoma.
In contrast to the solid, homogenous pale appearance of seminoma, mixed germ cell tumors will more often have a mixed solid and cystic appearance and areas of congestion and hemorrhage (the latter sometimes relating to areas of choriocarcinoma).
