Non-seminomatous germ cell tumour - testis

Case contributed by Dr Andrew Ryan

Enlarged testis

Patient Data

Age: 25
Gender: Male

Orchidectomy specimen

The heterogenous solid to cystic tumour virtually replaces the testis. The tumour is composed of variably sized, partly confluent, pale tna nodules with zones of congestion and possible haemorrhage.

Case Discussion

This is an example of a non-seminomatous germ cell tumour (NSGCT); microscopically it consisted predominantly of immature teratoma with a smaller component of yolk sac tumour.
