Presentation

Pyrexia of unknown origin and breathlessness

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

There are subpleural fine interstitial thickening and ground glass opacities with relative subpleural sparing.

5 yr of immunosuppression

Marked resolution of the ground glass changes but persistent mild peripheral reticular changes. Note right lower lobe resection staples

Non-specific interstitial pneumonia (NSIP) responds to steroids, in contrast to usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP).
