Normal axillary lymph nodes - mammogram

Case contributed by Dr Garth Kruger

Presentation

Routine screening mammogram.

Patient Data

Age: Adult
Gender: Female
Modality: Mammography

The typical appearance of normal lymph nodes. These are well defined, relatively low density lesions usually in the axillary tail. The nodes show fatty hila or a fatty centre.

Case Discussion

Always be wary of dense lesions. Normal nodes are not dense on mammograms. No further workup is indicated in this case.

Compare with case 21440.
