Case Discussion
The coracoclavicular ligament consists of two parts/fascicles: the conoid and the trapezoid.
The conoid portion is the posteromedial fasciculus, being a dense band of fibers, conical in form, with its base directed upward. It is attached by its apex to a rough impression at the base of the coracoid process on the scapula and by its expanded base to the conoid tubercle on the undersurface of the clavicle.
The trapezoid portion is the anterolateral fasciculus, being broad, thin, and quadrilateral in shape. It is attached to the upper surface of the coracoid process and to an oblique ridge on the undersurface of the clavicle. Its anterior border is free and its posterior border joined with the conoid ligament.
