Normal hepatic perfusion defect-segment IVb

Case contributed by Dr Wael Nemattalla

A common perfusion defect (yellow arrow) is seen adjacent to the fissure of the ligamentum teres.

Case Discussion

A common perfusion defect (yellow arrow) is seen adjacent to the fissure of the ligamentum teres. This perfusion defect is related to third inflow from paraumbilical systemic veins. Focal fatty infiltration is commonly seen in this location. Importantly, this normal variant must not be mistaken for a neoplasm.
