Fall from bike. Midline cervical tenderness.

Patient Data

Age: 12 years
Gender: Male

Normal alignment. Normal vertebral bodies. No fracture.

Case Discussion

In pediatric patients, the process of ossification results in vertebral bodies that have a wedged appearance. This is normal and should not be confused with a compression fracture.
