Normal pelvis (AP and frog) - 3 years

Case contributed by Jeremy Jones
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

1 week history of limp. No trauma.

Patient Data

Age: 3 years
Gender: Female

Both metaphyses appear irregular and sclerotic (greater on the right). No other abnormality.

An AP pelvic radiograph confirms that the pelvis is normal. The metaphyseal findings demonstrated on the frog-leg lateral view are positional.

Case Discussion

Often, a single view of the hips is enough to make a diagnosis. But, remember that on occasion, taking a second x-ray is helpful to ensure an overcall isn't made.
