Normal pressure hydrocephalus

Patient diagnosed with Alzheimer dementia, presents with an episode of seizure. Two years ago CT report describing signs of CSF space enlargement suggestive of reduced volume of the brain (no images).

Patient Data

Age: 85
Gender: Female

CT Brain

Ventriculomegaly with frontal and temporal horns of the lateral ventricles most affected. Crowding of the gyri at the vertex (with small sulci).

Case Discussion

Normal pressure hydrocephalus remains a controversial entity with often ambiguous imaging findings.

Patient went for a ventriculo-peritoneal shunt.
