Normal T tube cholangiogram

Case contributed by Hidayatullah Hamidi
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Underwent cholecystectomy. T-tube cholangiogram is performed on the 7th post operative day.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female
Fluoroscopy

Good opacification of intrahepatic and common bile ducts.

The pancreatic duct is also opacified. No filling defect or contrast leak identified.

Normal drainage of contrast to the duodenum.

Case Discussion

Non-ionic water-soluble contrast material is injected through a previously placed T-tube. Care should be taken not to inject air since even a small quantity of air can mimic a radiolucent biliary stone.

This examination can evaluate the patency of CBD, rule out any remaining calculi and evaluate any biliary leakage.
