There is linear subsegmental atelectasis in the left retrocardiac region. No pleural effusion. Cardiothymic silhouette remains normal (normal interval involution of thymus noted).
Case Discussion
The normal thymus is a great mimicker of lung pathology. A normal thymus, no matter how big, does not displace the trachea or mediastinal structures. The case nicely demonstrates how a normal thymus involutes over time.
