Road traffic accident, neck pain, no neurological deficits.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

Oblique linear fracture noted in the odontoid process and lower part of the anterior tubercle of C1.

Case Discussion

This is an Anderson and D'Alonzo type II odontoid fracture, an unstable injury. It has the highest rates of non-union. Differential diagnosis includes Bergmann's ossicle.
