Presentation

Inability to swallow milk, aspiration during feedings, and failed attempt at passing a nasogastric tube. Past history of preterm labor and polyhydramnios during pregnancy.

Patient Data

Age: 1 day
Gender: Male

The nasogastric tube is curled in a dilated proximal esophagus suggesting esophageal atresia

Gas is seen distally in the gastric cavity and bowel loops indicating a tracheo-esophageal fistula

Air space consolidation in the left lung.

Typical appearances of proximal esophageal atresia with distal tracheo-esophageal fistula due to the gas seen in the stomach and bowel loops most likely presenting the most common type C.
