Esophageal intramural pseudodiverticulosis
Presentation
Dysphagia
Patient Data
Age: 45 years
From the case:
Esophageal intramural pseudodiverticulosis
Barium
Composite images of three spot radiographs during an oesophagram.
In the first image, tiny "flask-shaped" outpouchings "float" outside the esophagus, compatible with esophageal pseudodiverticulosis.
From the case:
Esophageal intramural pseudodiverticulosis
Barium
Coned-in image of the pseudodiverticula.
Case Discussion
Multiple small pseudodiverticula around the midoesophagus, proximal to a peptic stricture, consistent with esophageal intramural pseudodiverticulosis.
In addition to strictures, esophageal pseudodiverticula are associated with esophageal candidiasis and esophageal carcinoma.
The pseudodiverticula cannot be seen on endoscopy.
