Presentation
This patient visits the emergency department because of a blunt low energy trauma to the right hip during football training. He can walk and can put his weight on the right leg. As a medical history the patient mentions a 'muscle tear' several years ago at the inside of his right thigh.
Patient Data
There is no evidence of a recent cortical defect or fracture in the pelvis or right hip.
A focal hyperostosis can be seen at the lateral aspect of the ischiopubic junction on the right.
Case Discussion
A focal hyperostosis can be seen at the lateral aspect of the ischiopubic branch on the right. This is the zone of insertion of the adductor muscles of the upper leg. Given the patients history of a 'muscle tear', the diagnosis of an old healed avulsion injury can be made.
