Presentation

Painful swelling on the elbow. No history of trauma.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Bones are within normal limits. No fracture or cortical destruction noted.

There is enlarged olecranon bursa on the lateral view.

mri

MR demonstrates fluid collection within olecranon bursa and inflammatory changes in the adjacent soft tissues.

The signal intensity of the bones and muscles are within normal limits.

Olecranon bursitis is an inflammation of the soft tissues of the olecranon bursa at the elbow. This can be a result of repetitive use, trauma, or inflammatory conditions.
