Olecranon bursitis

Intramedullary nail fixation across fracture of ulna - 4-5 weeks ago. Complaining of pain, swelling in olecranon region.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

There is fluid collection with internal echoes in subcutaneous plane of posterior elbow. There is hypervascularity around the collection.

About 16 mm length of intramedullary nail is seen out side cortex of ulna in olecranon region.

Triceps tendon is normal.

There is no elbow joint effusion.

Case Discussion

Findings favour olecranon bursitis due to repetitive trauma caused by intramedullary nail tip.
