Elbow radiograph revealed an undisplaced non-comminuted olecranon fracture, there was no subluxation. This characterizes a Mayo type IA olecranon fracture.
Case Discussion
Olecranon fractures usually result from direct trauma to the olecranon itself, such as a fall from standing height onto the flexed elbow.
In the present case, however, the mechanism of trauma was complex as the patient was involved in a motorcycle accident and sustained multiple fractures.
