Patient Data

Age: 3
Gender: Female
MRI

Huge left cerebral hemisphere open schizencephaly with right sided polymicrogyria. Note also the absence of the septum pellucidum. 

Case Discussion

Schizencephaly is one form of cerebral cortical malformation.  In more than 50% of cases it is associated with other cerebral abnormalities on MRI, such as in septo-optic dysplasia.

The presenting complaint is usually with seizures or development delay in children,
