There is a fusiform enlargement with kinking of the right optic nerve involving the intraorbital and intracanalicular segments with enlarged surrounding subarachnoid spaces and proptosis grade I. It elicits an isosignal to the normal left optic neve on T1/T2 and FLAIR sequences with moderate heterogeneous enhancement on postcontrast sequences.
Normal appearance of the left optic nerve and optic chiasma.
No abnormal signal of the grey/white matter at the infra-or supratentorial levels.
Case Discussion
MRI of a fusiform enlargement with kinking of the right optic nerve with secondary proptosis grade I, suggest probably an optic nerve glioma. No lesions in favor of neurofibromatosis type I (NF1).
