Optic nerve glioma

Newly noticed left eye proptosis.

Patient Data

Age: 2 years
Gender: Male

Fusiform enlargement of the left optic nerve with oval-shaped mass formation seen reaching to the optic disc anteriorly and extending to the extra-orbital segment of the optic nerve posteriorly ending about 8 mm from the optic chiasm as well as abutting the medial rectus muscle. It elicit isointense signal on T1 WIs, high signal on T2 WI with intense homogeneous enhancement. It is seen measuring  1.6 X 2.9 X 1.7 cm along its maximal transverse, anteroposterior and craniocaudal dimensions respectively.

Subsequent mild proptosis of the left eye globe.

Case Discussion

Left optic nerve mass with no chiasmatic extension impressive of optic nerve glioma.
