Optic nerve glioma

Presentation

Patient with a history of left proptosis and orbital surgery one year ago. Known left optic nerve glioma for follow up.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male

The left optic nerve shows diffuse fusiform enlargement measuring 35 x 15 x 15 mm. It is involving the whole intra-orbital and intra-canalicular segments of the left optic nerve. It shows T1 hypointense, T2 heterogenous and FLAIR hyperintense signal intensity, restricted DWI, and intense homogenous post-contrast enhancement pattern.

Left proptosis is noted.

Case Discussion

This case demonstrates a left optic nerve mass with no chiasmatic or contralateral extensions suggestive of optic nerve glioma. The optic nerve shows fusiform enlargement with kinking and postcontrast enhancement.
