Gradual loss of vision in the left eye , associated proptosis. No family history of NF1

Axial T2

There is fusiform mass involving the left optic nerve. The mass is hyperintense on both FLAIR and T2 imaging.
No evidence of abnormal T2 or FLAIR white matter hyperintensities.
Case Discussion
This is an example of optic nerve glioma occuring sporadically (not associated with NF1). The differential diagnosis include optic nerve sheath meningioma (if eccentrically located)
