Orbital blow-out fracture


Blunt trauma to left eye.

Patient Data

Age: 35-40 years
Gender: Male

Compression fracture of medial wall of left orbit with entrapment of medial rectus muscle.

Case Discussion

Medial blow-out fractures are the second most common type after the inferior type, indenting the lamina papyracea medially. Orbital fat commonly prolapses into the newly-formed bony concavity and the medial rectus muscle is at risk of entrapment, as has occured in this case.
