Orbital blow-out fracture (MRI)

Blow-out fracture of medial wall and floor of left orbit is noted with subsequent herniation of extraconal orbital fat into left ethmoidal and left maxillary sinuses.
Importantly, the fracture has also involved the left infraorbital foramen, with impingement of left infraorbital nerve (branch of cranial nerve V2).
Fracture of anterior wall of left maxillary sinus and lateral wall of left orbit also noted.
Case Discussion
Blow-out fractures of the orbital floor usually requires surgical correction particularly when the defect is larger and has caused entrapment of extraocular muscle and impingement of infraorbital nerve.
