Info

Significant infection and inflammation of the right orbit (involving both pre- and post-septal regions) are noted at the medial aspect. Extension of infection from the right ethmoid sinusitis and resultant in small sub-periosteal abscess. No intracranial extension.

Bilateral maxillary sinusitis (worst on the right side).

Case Discussion

Orbital cellulitis, also called post-septal cellulitis, is usually an extension of infection from adjacent paranasal sinuses. It's an emergency condition that requires hospitalisation and surgical treatment in comparison to less severe preseptal cellulitis.
