Presentation

Left orbit pain and eye reddening, eye movement limitation, and decreased visual acuity with a one-year history of breast cancer.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female

Diffuse soft tissue density in the superotemporal side of the left orbital cavity extending into adjacent extraocular muscles and completely encasing the optic nerve sheath complex. Extension into an orbital segment of the lacrimal gland is seen. The lesion partially encases the uveo-scleral layer of the left eye and also extends to the orbital apex.

Case Discussion

The case is pathologically proven orbital metastasis due to breast cancer. Orbital metastasis is uncommon but the most common cause in women is breast cancer and in men is prostate cancer. Overall, breast cancer is the most common etiology of orbital metastasis.
