Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

Glaucoma refractory to medical management and requiring placement of an EX-PRESS device in a 30-year-old woman. CT images show an EX-PRESS device in the superonasal region of the limbus of the right globe.

This CT image also shows a right infero-lateral Baerveldt Glaucoma Implant that is considerably higher in attenuation than other devices (not shown) because of the presence of barium.

Case Discussion

Familiarity with postoperative orbital devices is essential for radiologists. It is basic to differentiate between foreign bodies to avoid misdiagnosis.

It is also important to know the degree of compatibility of these devices with MRI (you can consult it on www.mrisafety.com).
