Presentation
Painful right eyelid swelling
Patient Data
Mild thickening of the right upper eyelid.
Abnormal prominence of the right superior rectus and superior oblique muscles, as well as the right lacrimal gland, compared to the left side.
Other examined structures of both orbits were normal.
Case Discussion
Orbital pseudotumor is an idiopathic inflammatory process that most commonly affects the extraocular muscles and less likely involves the uvea, sclera, lacrimal gland, and retrobulbar soft tissue.
In our case, the patient's clinical presentation and imaging findings were enough to raise the possibility of idiopathic orbital inflammation. The patient began treatment with oral corticosteroids and showed a good response both clinically and radiologically.
