Case contributed by Matt Skalski
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Foot pain.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years

An ossicle is present adjacent to the medial aspect of the left navicular bone, with a similar elongation of the  medial process of the right navicular which has medullary continuity.

The findings are outlined.

Case Discussion

Typical example of both a type II (>7mm) and type III (fused ossice/cornuate process) os tibiale externum (os naviculare). Type II's may occasionally be associated with pain due to motion and irritation at the fibro-osseous joint between the ossicle and bone.
