Os trigonum syndrome

Presentation

Severe pain on the right heel for the last 2 months, worse when sitting and walking.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female
mri

Bone marrow edema signal of the os trigonum and adjacent talus. Small volume fluid signal in the synchondrosis. Mild adjacent soft tissue edema.

Os trigonum syndrome is one of the posterior ankle impingement syndromes.

Os trigonum are a common finding, and are usually asymptomatic - in this case, however, there is bone marrow edema signal the os trigonum and adjacent talus with fluid signal in the synchondrosis in the appropriate clinical context.
