MR shows T1WI hypointense / T2FS hyperintense para-articular bone marrow oedema at the level of the pubic symphysis. No bone destruction or abscess formation.
Periarticular soft tissues unremarkable.
Findings compatible with osteitis pubis.
Case Discussion
Osteitis pubis is a self-limited painful non-infectious inflammation of the symphysis pubis. The most common causes of this condition are pregnancy/childbirth, pelvic surgery, trauma and athletic activity.
The postpartum period may lead morphologic changes on CT or MR imaging that require detailed analysis and accurate diagnosis by radiologists.
