MRI right knee
Axial magnetic resonance image showing a large chondral injury of the medial articular surface of patella and large loose chondral fragment with partial tear of the patellar insertion of the medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL). Edema of the medial patella and of the lateral femoral condyle, consistent with bone marrow contusion due to recent lateral patellar dislocation. Large articular effusion.

Case Discussion
The most common patellar dislocation direction is laterally in the coronal plane. Articular cartilage injuries to the patella are frequent after a patellar dislocation. Acute fixation is a good choice for the treatment of osteochondral injuries.
