Presentation

Swelling in the lower thigh on the right side: No h/o of fall

Patient Data

Age: 25
Gender: Male
X-ray

Growth on the medial aspect of distal femur away from the epiphysis.

Knee joint is normal.

Proximal ends of tibia and fibula appear normal.

Case Discussion

Case of osteochondroma

This tumor can present at any age

It accounts for 10% of all bone tumors and 20% of benign bone tumors.

MRI clearly demonstrates continuity of the exostotic cortex and medullary cavity with that of the parent bone, a hallmark of osteochondromas 1.

Differential diagnosis:

  • ossifying hematoma
  • juxtacortical chondroma
