Case contributed by Frank Gaillard
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Thigh lump.

Patient Data

Age: Adolescent.
x-ray

A focal outgrowth from the anterior aspect of the distal femur, continuous with the medullary cavity is consistent with an osteochondroma.

ultrasound

Longitudinal ultrasound image of the osteochondroma demonstrates only a thin cartilage cap.

Case Discussion

Features are characteristic of an osteochondroma of the femur. A thin cartilage cap makes malignant degeneration extremely unlikely.
