Osteochondroma - fibula

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Pain over the right knee for 12 days. No fever.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male

There is a well-defined, pedunculated bony outgrowth projecting inferiorly and away from the epiphysis noted in the posterior aspect of the metaphyseal region of the proximal end of the fibula. The cartilage cap is thin and difficult to identify. There is no periosteal reaction, cortical irregularity or any soft tissue component.

A well-defined, pedunculated bony outgrowth projecting inferiorly and away from the epiphysis in the posterior aspect of the metaphyseal region of the proximal end of the fibula. The cortex and the medullary cavity are continuous with that of the fibula. The cartilage cap is thin and difficult to identify.

There is no periosteal reaction, cortical irregularity, matrix mineralization, or soft tissue component.
