Osteochondroma - fifth metatarsal

Presentation

Chronic right foot pain during walking.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male
  • an expanding bony outpouching arising from the right-sided fifth metatarsal head and neck portions on the medial side directed away from the joint associated with bony remodeling and scalloping
  • os peroneum 
  • hallux valgus
  • no discrete associated soft tissue mass or soft tissue calcifications
  • no other osseous injury/lesion

Case Discussion

X-ray findings are suggestive of fifth digit osteochondroma with subsequent deformity of the metatarsal shaft without evidence of fracture.
