Presentation
Swelling on the medial side of the right knee
Patient Data
X-ray right knee
Osteochondroma with regular margins in the proximal metaphysis of the tibia, medially.
MRI right knee
Sessile osteochondroma of the proximal metaphysis of the tibia, medially, with cortical medullary continuity, between the tendons of the pes anserinus that are dislocated. The cartilage cap is normal (up to 3.5 mm). The position of the patella is slightly "high".
Case Discussion
Osteochondromas are bony protuberances surrounded by a cartilage layer. They generally affect the extremities of the long bones in an immature skeleton and deform them. A rapidly increasing lesion size and local pain suggest sarcomatous transformation.
