At the site of the palpable right parasternal nodule, there is a bony outgrowth from the anterior end of the right 3rd rib. It is covered with thin anechoic cartilage measuring up to 2 mm in thickness. The lesion displaces the superficial muscle. There is no fracture/ local fluid collection.
The anterior end of the right 2nd rib was examined for a comparison and it is normal.
Case Discussion
A child presented with a non-tender, hard lump in the right parasternal region. The ultrasound shows a sessile osteochondroma from the anterior end of the right 3rd rib.
