Presentation
Recurrent lower left leg pain
Patient Data
Arising from the posterolateral aspect of the distal tibia is a sessile bony mass causing remodelling and sclerosis of adjacent fibula bone. The mass is continuous with the medullary cavity of the tibia. Mild soft tissue bulge noted.
Case Discussion
A common benign bone tumour of two varieties; the pedunculated which constitutes large majority and the lesser sessile type. Often asymptomatic until it becomes big enough to compress nearby soft tissue, bone and neurovascular structures. It may cause bone deformities, fractures, bursa formation and can undergo malignant transformation, especially in those with increasing cartilage cap thickness after skeletal maturity. The commonest location is the lower limb.
